Healthcare in America

Every American should have sufficient healthcare services to meet their everyday needs and the emergency or catastrophic medical incident. Americans becoming insolvent because of sudden illness or a bad injury is a travesty to our nation. We believe that all Americans should contribute to a health insurance system that would protect all Americans. Private insurance companies would be required by law to offer affordable plans that cover pre-existing conditions to all Americans. There must be a mandate that everyone purchase insurance to spread the risk over as many people as possible. We believe that the more we spread the risk, the better the chance for slowing costs and maintaining affordable coverage for everyone.

The Eden Party believes in early prevention and education as a means of decreasing costs over the long term. Insurance companies will be offered incentives when they provide evidence that they are offering their customers a steady dose of opportunities to becoming a better participant in their health destiny. Wellness and nutrition programs, smoking-cessation, mental health awareness, and regular screenings and checkups with high-quality medical professionals must be a part of overall goals of improving the national health outcomes of all Americans.

Young people should be permitted to remain on their parents health insurance until they are 26 years of age. Thereafter, they receive health insurance from their employer, who in turn are incentivized to provide quality products to their employees or they can purchase individual policies from a private company. Another option to pursue, ultimately, is a Medicare option for all, whereby anyone can purchase a healthcare plan similar to those of elderly Americans. The Eden Party believes in a robust, well-regulated marketplace for health insurance options that are both affordable and profitable enough. We do as a Party understand that health insurance companies would have to adapt and cooperate immensely in order to balance their obligations to their shareholders with the well-being of the National Interest, i.e., our fellow Americans
