It might be time right now to reinvigorate the Eden Party. Given the events of the past year that included a pandemic, impeachment of our President for abuse of power, lockdowns, acute unemployment, constant fear and loss around the world, increased belligerency of our President, Black Lives Matter protests, more waves of the pandemic, races for vaccines against this dreadful disease, Covid-19, and of course more chaos from our Nonsense President, and an election, a presidential election America pulled off during a pandemic, successfully by all accounts, which didn't stop President Trump and his allies to dispute it, litigate, lie about it, a total travesty, and a year people will write about and think about in years to come. Sorry for the rant and stream of consciousness, but this past year was unlike anything anyone has ever experienced.
Trump was defeated in a landslide, as he called the electoral defeat of 306-232 against Hillary Clinton in that fateful 2016 campaign. Joe Biden won with the exact number of electoral college votes. I won't litigate again the election, other than to say we at the Eden Party are ecstatic that the reign of Donald Trump as President of the United States is coming to a close, even while he continues to rant about getting robbed of a victory by nefarious forces afoot in so many election offices around the country.
We believe a conspiracy to ensure defeat of Donald Trump through election machinations would have been impossible to pull off in this day and age of constant surveillance, social media energies, and the loose lips syndrome of people who just can't keep their mouths shut. Too many eyes on the voting apparatus of a country this large, too many states who are permitted to run their elections as they see fit, federalism at its glory, so any notion of election fraud that turns a presidential election is pure fantasy. His claims of election malfeasance are theater to maintain an energized base, whoever they may still be, and to raise money for the continued fight, against his own inner demons. Ah, President Trump, listen pal, America tolerates losers just fine, and loves a comeback story, but public temper tantrums of powerful people are usually given short shrift. We fired you as President, and it's ok.
Joe Biden and Kamala Harris, our new President and Vice-President, we wish them the best, but the Eden Party considers them a stepping stone to a more energetic governmental philosophy. The Eden Party endeavors to put broader swaths of the American electorate at the table to negotiate a a policy spectrum that includes:
- social justice
- environmental stewardship
- progressive tax codes
- educational and training opportunities
- science, technology, and engineering
- a foreign policy based on enlightened principles of justice, human rights, peace activism
- greater energy independence
Of course, the Eden Party also aims to strengthen adherence to core American values enshrined in our Constitution: among which include most importantly: freedom of speech, freedom of assembly, freedom of religion, due process, equal protection under the law, right to bear arms, and overarching respect for everyone equally.
