The Eden Party supports an energy policy that relies on more and more self-reliance and promotion and cleaner energy technologies such as water turbine, wind, solar, and geothermal. There is no question that a fossil-fuel based energy infrastructure dramatically pollutes the water and air on which we utterly depend. Protecting the environment and developing a cleaner energy supply intermingle intensely, and it only stands to reason that if our air is cleaner and our water is cleaner, our lives would be better.
Our energy policy requires a shift in so many areas of our lives, and it may may take generations to fulfill these goals. We feel, however, we must begin now make these shifts happen. The Eden Party would invest massive amounts of money into transitioning our highest tech corporations, particularly military corporations, from developing and building dazzling weapons of war to designing and producing dazzling solar panels and wind turbines. The research and development arms of America's greatest tech and engineering companies are top-flight. Decreasing our defense budget and reinvesting those monies into researching and developing real world solutions to our energy infrastructure is a major first step. The Eden Party believes that the majority of our defense commitments these days revolves around hegemony of oil resources. The United States would have less of a need to defend these resources, most of which are controlled by autocratic regimes in the Middle East, if we were less dependent on the petroleum they provide.
The Eden Party reiterates the need for a robust free-market with regard to the American corporations who do business with oil-producing nations. The Eden Party will not stand in the way if American companies develop contracts with them. However, the Eden Party's energy and foreign policy mandates would preclude any use of American military might to protect American corporations from the inherent instability of Middle-East nations. There are risks in working with the unstable dictators. The Eden Party prefers if American corporations take up the mantle of less reliance on foreign oil development and more zeal into bringing to the American people better and cleaner energy technologies.
