Abortion

The abortion debate in the United States can be more succinctly tackled by accepting the following proposition: everyone in America is pro-life. Only a severe misanthrope can publicly declare himself or herself the contrary proposition: pro-death. The Eden Party supports a woman's right to choose wholeheartedly and gives short shrift to states who work tirelessly to whittle away at a woman's right to choose. These legal/legislative efforts are expensive and misguided and ultimately harm society. The Eden Party believes that to reduce the number of abortion procedures, high-quality education efforts should be mandated in middle- and high-schools that stress honest, factual information about human reproduction that includes best practices on pregnancy prevention, STD prevention, and mental health self-management to help guide young Americans into responsible adulthood. Seeing a reduction in abortion procedures is on the face of it a lofty goal, but attaining reductions at the expense of women's health decisions is insulting to adults in America. The right to choose is a privacy issue between women, their partners and families, and their health-care providers.
